Greetings, K Fitters! It’s been four months since our last blog post. I find myself thinking we’re in an alternate dark and cold reality. Now is a time to regroup and self-care is important -- getting exercise and healthy food is a responsibility we have to ourselves to keep us in fighting shape! We have each other and we have K Fit and we have Portland.
Turning outward, we have introduced K Fit Charity of the Month. In January we chose The Bradley Angle House. They serve victims of domestic violence. We brought 10 bags of towels, bedding, pillows and self care items plus $300 in gift cards to places like Fred’s and Target. It was a great success.
For February, our charity is ORC - Oregon Refugee Child -- and we have our Change Challenge! Be the Change You Want to See in the World! The Change Challenge raises money for shipping items to Greece and Serbian collected for refugees.
The bucket is in the gym. Bring your coins and dump them in there. Once the bucket is full, people can guess the weight. Whoever guesses closest to the actual weight will win a tote bag or t-shirt of their choice.
February is our first couple’s workout! This is a fundraising event for ORC andit’s on Saturday, February 11th at 11am. The suggestion donation is $15 per couple, but you can donate more if you’re inspired!
This workout is open to husbands, wives, partners, or close friends with whom you would like to share K Fit. Please RSVP!
A previously canceled (due to snow) class we’ve put back on the calendar is Sage Dillon’s Core Breath. This will take place Saturday, February 18th at 10:30 am.
This class introduces the concepts of Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization to help with breathing and learning how to protect your core/back during workouts. This is open to guests for $15. For monthly members, this class is included. And for those of you with class packages, this counts as one class.
And here’s a first! Sunday, February 19th at 6:45 am, we’re going snow shoeing with Kelley Aurand! This event is open to current K Fitters and families. Details are in the gym. Please RSVP for this event.
Our new coach Genevieve Moore, is in the studio Mondays and Thursdays for the evening classes. We’ve also added back in the 6:00 class for those days.
Genevieve, also known as Scratcher in the Eye, is a Rose City Roller and often appears for workouts during the day, so introduce yourself! Gen is also available for small group training and personal training! Let us know if you are looking for a little more personal attention!
Eat Healthy, Feel Healthy plan is our response to K Fitters who are looking for a little guidance or accountability with nutrition. Details are available in the gym or just ask Mary or Tammy!
April is just around the corner and April 22nd is the Trout Lake Run -- 5k, 10k, half marathon. It’s time to start training if you’re planning on joining us. If you want a training plan, they are available now, just ask Mary or Tammy
And last, but definitely not least, February 15th marks the ONE year anniversary of being in our own space at 2725 SE Ash! Mark your calendar for Friday, March 11th when we will celebrate this milestone!
